The Game. It's what you look forward to when you compete. At First Baptist Church, we believe that sports activities are more than a game. Our goal is to combine fun, competition and the love of sport with opportunities to build relationships with some great people. The Activities Ministry is wide open to our community and we welcome you to check us out and find out why it is MORE than a game.

At First Baptist Church on the Square, we believe sports is more than just a game. The tools used in sports are more than just bats, balls and fishing rods. These are tools to reach people for the Kingdom of Christ. We are a church committed to meeting people where they are, and loving them to where Christ wants them to be.

There are plenty of opportunities in our Activities Ministry for fitness or just plain fun. We offer a variety of year-round leagues, classes and events that provide opportunities to connect with others, enjoy playing sports, compete, and become more physically fit. Some have a regular schedule and include league play, while others are available on a more informal basis.

Sports have a universal language and are an excellent tool for getting to know others. If you have a favorite sport or activity, whatever your gifts and physical abilities, we encourage you to use that interest in a way that will honor Christ. Participation is possible as a player, coach, instructor and/or team leader. We also welcome spectators!

Sports Programs

Adult Basketball: Teams are formed for play in the Christian Athletic League of LaGrange (CALL) winter league.  The league starts in January with a season ending tournament to be played at the end of the regular season.

Upward Basketball and Cheerleading: Available for 1st - 6th graders, Upward basketball with cheerleading kicks off each November with player evaluations.  Practices start in December and game play begins in January.  Our season concludes with a Celebration Awards Night in March.  Don't miss next summer's Upward Basketball and Cheerleading camps each summer.

Softball: Teams compete in the Troup County Parks and Recreation church league.  Men's and coed teams are available.  Games start in April with play scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights.

Other Sports: Golf, tennis, bike riding, rock climbing, fun runs, hunting, canoeing and fishing outings are just a few of the many other sporting activities available thought the Activities Ministry!  We are holding spring and fall golf tournaments to help raise funds for church mission trips.  Click here to discover how you can participate.
